Don Rosenberg‘s response to President Trump’s State of the Union address…

Los Angeles, CA (January 30, 2018)

While it’s refreshing to finally have a President who wants to fix the illegal immigration problem, his proposed plan has many flaws.

First and foremost, the first pillar (a pathway to citizenship for illegal aliens brought here through no fault of their own) should be the last pillar. The President’s plan also does not say what will be done to those people whose fault it was.

The plan only defends against those crossing the border illegally and does nothing about the hundreds of thousands (over 600,000 last year) who overstay their visas.

Trump’s plan rightfully limits chain migration but, as always, the “devil’s in the details.” The more extensive explanation allows for the waiting list to be fulfilled – meaning it could be two decades before we actually see a decrease in those allowed entry via chain migration.

In addition, the plan is missing answers to some key questions:

  • How will we deal with the 10-20 million people ALREADY in the country illegally?
  • When will e-verify become mandatory?
  • How does the administration/Congress plan on ending sanctuary cities or states (which only protect those here illegally who have committed additional crimes)?
  • When do we end birthright citizenship?

Tonight, the politicians hell bent on protecting illegal aliens (Democrats) displayed despicable behavior by groaning when the President mentioned those who lost their lives because of illegal immigration. My son is dead because they refused to do their job – yet they groan at the mention of the lives lost. They’ve reached a new low in partisan politics.

Prior to tonight’s address Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said, referring to the dreamers:

“We will not rest, we will not stop, this will not end.”

Never once has she acknowledged let alone promised my family and the 50,000 to 100,000 thousand families that she will not rest, she will not stop until no Americans are killed by an illegal alien.

Rep. Pelosi and her long-serving Democrat colleagues have totally failed American families by abdicating their responsibility to secure our borders. It’s time that Washington act to protect our children and families and not reward those who tried to take a shortcut through the lawful immigration process.

About Don Rosenberg…

Don Rosenberg is a lifelong liberal who may have only one thing in common politically with President Donald Trump: his battle against illegal immigration.

Rosenberg became an activist on the issue after his 25-year-old son, Drew, was killed in a 2010 collision in San Francisco with a Honduran immigrant who had entered the country illegally, but been granted temporary immigration status. The Westlake Village resident now spends much of his spare time firing off letters to journalists, sounding off on TV programs such as Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” and pressing government agencies to release data related to illegal immigration.

About Fight Sanctuary State…

Fight Sanctuary State was founded by a group of Californians united to protect our children and families from illegal alien homicide and crime by working to repeal sanctuary jurisdiction policies. More information can be found at

Would Kevin De Leon Rather Have California Women Raped Than Illegal Alien Criminals Deported?

Posted at 3:30 pm on January 26, 2018 by Jennifer Van Laar

That’s the contention of an anti-sanctuary state group, Fight Sanctuary State, after an illegal alien criminal was charged with four counts of rape Monday.

Alfonso Alarcon-Nunez drove for Uber and his targets were young intoxicated females who were leaving parties. He’d take them home then return hours later to rape and rob them. He was able to get a contract with Uber because he had a valid California driver’s license, issued in 2015. On January 1, 2015, California began issuing driver’s licenses to people who didn’t have documentation to prove they were in the country legally, courtesy of AB-60, a bill Kevin De Leon co-sponsored.

The San Luis Obispo County District Attorney hasn’t said definitively that Alarcon-Nunez’s license was an AB-60 license, but if it wasn’t, then Alarcon-Nunez used fake papers to obtain a license. Since an AB-60 license would have been the path with the least obstacles, it would seem likely that’s the type of license he had.

In addition, Alarcon-Nunez had already been deported from the country once, in 2005.

Grassroots groups in California are incensed that the state’s leadership favors illegal alien criminals over law-abiding citizens. Fight Sanctuary State’s Don Rosenberg, whose son Drew was killed by an illegal alien, said:

“How many people have to suffer from crimes committed by illegal aliens before we get serious about getting them out of the country, keeping them out of the country, and severely punishing companies that hire them?”

Maybe if one of these girls was Kevin De León’s daughter he would think twice about protecting criminal illegal aliens.”

De Leon and his allies Jerry Brown, Kamala Harris, and the wacky mayor of Oakland, Libby Schaaf, try to argue that “undocumented immigrants” are simply peaceful people, looking for a better life. That is true for some of them, but the public safety risk they pose is undeniable.

That same year, [2014], the U.S. Sentencing Commission found that 75 percent of all criminal defendants who were convicted and sentenced for federal drug offenses were illegal immigrants. Illegal immigrants were also involved in 17 percent of all drug trafficking sentences and one third of all federal prison sentences.

According to the FBI, 67,642 murders were committed in the U.S. from 2005 through 2008, and 115,717 from 2003 through 2009. The General Accounting Office documents that criminal immigrants committed 25,064 of these murders.

To extrapolate out these statistics, this means that a population of just over 3.5 percent residing in the U.S. unlawfully committed 22 percent to 37 percent of all murders in the nation. This is astounding.

In states with the highest illegal alien populations, it’s even worse.

In California, there are just over 92 illegal immigrants imprisoned for every 100,000 illegals as compared to 74 citizens and legal non-citizen immigrants.

The cost of jailing illegal alien criminals is astronomical.

According to research and statistics by the U.S. Departments of Justice and Homeland Security, U.S. taxpayers are footing an annual bill of nearly $19 million a day to house and care for an estimated 300,000 to 450,000 convicted criminal immigrants who are eligible for deportation and are currently residing in local jails and state and federal prisons across the country.

The cost of jailing them pales in comparison, though, to the cost to all of us of the loss of children whose lives were cut short by the crimes of illegal alien criminals. Don Rosenberg has fought against California’s handouts to illegal aliens since his son’s death, and in an interview with RedState admits that it’s emotionally exhausting sometimes, especially at times when he’s the only one standing up against insane proposed laws. He was the only person – ONLY PERSON – who testified in opposition to AB-60, the illegal alien driver’s license bill, when it was in committee.

Rosenberg has formed Fight Sanctuary State with other parents whose children were killed by illegal aliens, in an attempt to repeal California’s sanctuary state laws. He made a great point that the Democrats should think about. “When they argue for gun control, they say, ‘If only one life is saved, it’s worth it.’ Yet when they talk about illegal aliens, they ignore the thousands of lives that could be saved.”

Gov. Faubus Would be Proud of Becerra’s Stand in “Sanctuary” California

Jennifer Van Laar   Jennifer Van Laar  Posted: Jan 25, 2018 12:01 AM

In California we’ve become accustomed to our “leaders” going out of their way to give things to illegal aliens, from college tuition to driver’s licenses and everything in between, but somehow thought they’d have to draw the line at breaking federal law. That illusion was shattered last week when the state’s Attorney General, Xavier Becerra, held a press conference threatening federal law enforcement agencies and employers with dire consequences if they attempted to uphold or comply with federal immigration law in the state.

If you haven’t been following the issue, California’s new “sanctuary state” laws essentially prohibit the use of any state funds, personnel, or buildings for immigration enforcement, and prohibit employers from sharing information about their employees’ immigration status or employment documents (such as on an I-9) with federal authorities without a court order.

As I watched the press conference, I became enraged that my state government would prioritize the “rights” of illegal aliens over the safety of my family. I spoke to Fight Sanctuary State’s Don Rosenberg, who is leading an effort to repeal the new laws, to see what he thought about Becerra’s remarks. When we first spoke he didn’t have a lot to say, just that, “I’m trying to comprehend the incomprehensible.” He later sent me an email with his thoughts.

“It’s not often in my life that I have been at a loss for words, but after watching Becerra explain how EVERYONE must obey the new laws, I’m tongue tied. Not because I don’t know what to say, but because I don’t know what he said.

“What I heard Becerra say is that if you are a citizen of California you cannot abide by federal law as it concerns illegal aliens. You must follow California law. To hell with the Supremacy Clause. To hell with right and wrong. You have no rights, but those here illegally do.

“You must follow the law even if it means you are guilty of obstruction of justice. You must protect, aid and abet and harbor illegal aliens – because they have more rights than you do.

“Orval Faubus must be proud. Not because he would agree with who you are protecting, but because he would cherish your blatant disregard of federal law. His despicable attempt to ‘protect’ whites from blacks is no different than California’s outrageous attempt to protect illegal immigrant criminals from receiving the justice they so richly deserve – while claiming the purpose is greater public safety.”

Hearing Becerra, Kevin De Leon, and Jerry Brown say these laws somehow make Californians safer is a joke. They put everyone at risk, especially communities with large numbers of immigrants, since local jails are forced to release criminals they’re previously reported to ICE back into the community, and ICE is now forced to apprehend them in these neighborhoods instead of at a secure jail.

“He calls these illegal alien criminals ‘Californians.’ Mr. Becerra, let me remind you that people who illegally invade California are no more Californians than I would be a Becerra if I broke into your home and refused to leave. You’re not asking anyone to ‘respect their privacy.’ You’re asking people to protect illegal aliens from prosecution and deportation.

“How do you spell hypocrite? B-E-C-E-R-R-A. You threaten people, saying, ‘Ignorance of the law does not allow you to escape punishment,’ but show your ignorance by ignoring the fact that the people you want to protect are violating the law by entering the country illegally. You threaten businesses with $10,000 fines if they violate your ‘trumped’ up privacy law but ignore the fact that these businesses (maybe ignorantly) violated the law by hiring these people in the first place.”

Sanctuary city/state proponents always like to make a distinction between people who came here illegally and have been law-abiding since they arrived and those who continue to commit crimes. While I appreciate that a portion of illegal immigrants desire to simply make a better life for themselves, there is no such thing as a non-criminal illegal immigrant. They already broke the law by entering the country illegally. I have a number of friends whose parents immigrated legally from war-torn countries in Central and South America, requiring great sacrifice, and they are all vehemently opposed to people who did it illegally being rewarded for it.

“But if you are so concerned with everyone following the law, let me tell you where to start.

“My son and many others are dead because your predecessor, Kamala Harris, didn’t enforce the law. Neither did Gavin Newsom, George Gascon, or Jerry Brown. Hundreds continue to die every year at the hands of illegal aliens because the law is not enforced. As you said, ‘ignorance of the law does not allow you to escape punishment.’ When will we see you indicting these scofflaws for refusing to follow the law?

“With any luck we’ll see ICE come to California to protect law-abiding people from these illegal alien criminals then see a federal prosecutor charge you with multiple violations of 8-1324, to protect us from you.”

California has entered a bizarro world in which evil is rewarded and good punished; where criminals have rights and law-abiding people live in fear of asserting their rights. Whether through repeal, court action, or the federal government asserting its rights, change can’t come soon enough.

Uber driver in US illegally charged with four California rapes

This undated booking photo provided by the County of San Luis Obispo shows Alfonso Alarcon-Nunez. California prosecutors say Alarcon-Nunez an Uber driver living in the country illegally has been charged with raping, assaulting and robbing young women.

Alfonso Alarcon-Nunez drove women to their homes, assaulted them, and stole property including cellphones, computers and jewelry, officials said. He collected his fare payments through the smartphone app Venmo to disguise his identity and his Uber records.

4 tips for talking to people you disagree with

Here are four tips for how to have effective conversations:

1. Don’t assume bad intent.

Assuming ill motives almost instantly cuts us off from truly understanding why someone does and believes as they do. We forget they’re a human being with a lifetime of experience that shaped their mind, we get stuck on that first wave of anger, and the conversation has a very hard time ever moving beyond it.

But when we assume good or neutral intent, we give our minds a much stronger framework for dialogue.

2. Ask questions.

When we engage people across ideological divides, asking questions helps us map the disconnect between our differing points of view. That’s important because we can’t present effective arguments if we don’t understand where the other side is actually coming from and it gives them an opportunity to point out flaws in our positions.

But asking questions serves another purpose; it signals to someone they’re being heard. When my friends on Twitter stopped accusing and started asking questions, I almost automatically mirrored them. Their questions gave me room to speak, but they also gave me permission to ask them questions and truly hear their responses. It fundamentally changed the dynamic of our conversation.

3. Stay calm.

This takes practice and patience, but it’s powerful. When my husband was still just an anonymous Twitter acquaintance, our discussions frequently became hard and pointed, but we always refused to escalate. Instead, he would change the subject. He would tell a joke or recommend a book or gently excuse himself from the conversation. We knew the discussion wasn’t over, just paused for a time to bring us back to an even keel.

People often lament that digital communication makes us less civil, but this is one advantage that online conversations have over in-person ones. We have a buffer of time and space between us and the people whose ideas we find so frustrating. We can use that buffer. Instead of lashing out, we can pause, breathe, change the subject or walk away, and then come back to it when we’re ready.

4. Make the argument.

This might seem obvious, but one side effect of having strong beliefs is we sometimes assume that the value of our position is, or should be, obvious and self-evident; that we shouldn’t have to defend our positions because they’re so clearly right and good; that if someone doesn’t get it, it’s their problem — that it’s not my job to educate them. But if it were that simple, we would all see things the same way.

As kind as my friends on Twitter were, if they hadn’t actually made their arguments, it would’ve been so much harder for me to see the world in a different way. We are all a product of our upbringing, and our beliefs reflect our experiences. We can’t expect others to spontaneously change their own minds. If we want change, we have to make the case for it.

Please share your comments and ideas on how to bridge the gap and explain why Sanctuary State laws are not the “Compassionate Solution” that the media pretends they are.

California AG: Employers who Cooperate With Federal Immigration Raids Will be Prosecuted

“We will prosecute those who violate [California] law,” Becerra responded.

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra (D-CA) said during a press conference Thursday that employers in California who cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in their rumored upcoming immigration raids would be prosecuted if they cooperate in a manner that violates California law.

Editorial: Sanctuary for Illegals Becomes Blacks Worst Nightmare

author-imageJesse Lee Peterson reveals war brewing over health care, education, other services

California is now a “sanctuary state,” thanks to Gov. Jerry Brown and liberal Democrats in Sacramento.

The Golden State is home to an estimated 2.3 million illegal aliens. And police are no longer permitted to ask suspects about their immigration status or assist with federal immigration-enforcement activities.

Yes, California voters are dumb for voting in liberal Democrats who continue to pass laws that endanger citizens.

For black Americans who might not understand this – you too will be impacted! Now that California has been designated a “sanctuary state,” illegal aliens, including MS-13, will flock to the state in droves and they’ll end up in the black community.

For the past 27 years, my nonprofit organization, BOND, has been trying to educate blacks on this issue with town hall forums, media, rallies, etc. Along with groups like FAIR, California Coalition for Immigration Reform and the late Terry Anderson, we’ve been warning the state and the nation of what was coming, but most blacks refused to listen.

We couldn’t get blacks to support a border wall or to vote against liberal Democrats who are selling them out for the Hispanic vote. Most blacks are so brainwashed by their godless black leaders, they’re willing to vote against their own self-interest. They blindly follow corrupt Democrats like Barack Obama, Maxine Waters, Karen Bass, Kamala Harris, Mark Ridley-Thomas and others who use them. All Democrats have to do is accuse anyone who opposes illegal immigration of being “racist,” and that’s enough to put blacks in a hypnotic trance and make them vote for Democrats.

The illegal immigration issue is out of control. The Hispanic population is growing rapidly, and it’s flexing its political muscle. There’s a warfare brewing between black and Hispanic gangs in Los Angeles, and it’s just a matter of time before it explodes. As a result, decent blacks are fleeing California and moving down south.

Illegal aliens are draining California taxpayers. According to Fox News, Los Angeles County taxpayers paid a whopping $1.3 billion in just two years for illegal-alien benefits and programs – nearly a quarter of the amount spent on the state’s needy population.

Over the past 60 years, the black community traded in values and principles for welfare and programs. As a result, most blacks rely on government assistance. Blacks are fighting with illegals in Los Angeles for health care, public education and other services.

I know many qualified blacks who’ve applied for all types of jobs in Los Angeles County and weren’t hired because they don’t speak Spanish; blacks are upset about this. If blacks stood up and demanded that their elected officials do something about this issue, the problem could be solved. But they’re so angry and preoccupied with blaming the white man, they can’t see that they’re voting for their own self-destruction.

The NAACP has completely sold out blacks. It supports amnesty, and it has allowed illegals to hitch their plight to the civil-rights struggle of blacks. The shameless NAACP is also pushing the insidious lie that increased immigration is helpful to the black community.

Members of the corrupt Congressional Black Caucus unanimously support amnesty for Hispanics and for the more than 3 million immigrants of African descent.

Except for a handful of black conservatives like myself, Sheriff David Clarke, Larry Elder, Walter Williams, Thomas Sowell and Peter Kirsanow, there aren’t any black voices boldly speaking out about the devastating impact illegal immigration is having on black Americans.

Democrats are giving out all kinds of taxpayer funded goodies to seduce Hispanics and addict them, just like they did to blacks. They’re brainwashing, spoiling and dumbing them down to use them for votes. There are some decent Hispanics who don’t agree with rewarding illegals, but they’re too afraid to speak out.

And now that California has legalized the sale of recreational marijuana, the state will attract more criminals and the worst kind of people. What a shame!

President Trump and Congress are deliberating the future of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA. Trump has reiterated that he wants to work with Democrats to find a permanent legislative solution to allow those protected by DACA to stay in the country, but only if it comes with a long-promised border wall and major changes to the immigration system.

Blacks need an advocate on this issue, and they have a friend in President Trump. But if they don’t wake up and stand for what is right, they will be permanently replaced.

For blacks to free themselves from this nightmare, they must first turn back to God and love Him with all their soul and might. Second, they must abandon group thinking and the Democratic Party. If they do this, we can make America great again overnight.

Tucker Carlson: Violent Criminal Illegals Now a ‘Protected Class’ in California

Illegal aliens – including violent criminals – have become a protected class in California, Fox News host Tucker Carlson declared Tuesday, reacting to the state’s new sanctuary policy:

“It doesn’t matter even if they have a history of crime, even violent crime. In California, illegal aliens are now a protected class. And even more significant, the state itself is now in direct opposition to this country’s most basic laws.”

Carlson listed several ways California’s laws give special treatment to illegal aliens:

“All police statewide in California are banned from asking about a suspect’s immigration status or cooperating with federal immigration officials. Landlords are banned from reporting the legal status of their tenants.  Colleges can’t monitor the immigration status of the kids they enroll.

“These new measures augment the state’s many existing laws – all designed to enable illegal immigration.

“Illegals in California already are entitled to receive a driver’s licenses, in-state college tuition, free healthcare for their children and more. They don’t need to have a job; they don’t have to know English.”

By its “open defiance of the federal government,” California has taken one more step toward secession, Carlson said, comparing it to the time Alabama’s governor rejected federal desegregation laws:

“This country’s largest state has taken another dramatic step towards disunion. An open defiance of the federal government. As of yesterday, California is now a sanctuary state. It’s the nation’s first.

“Fifty-five years ago this month, Governor George Wallace took his oath of office and pledged resistance to federal authority – effectively declaring Alabama its own country. You know the history.

“Well, Governor Jerry Brown of California has done something similar this week.”
